    Apart from my colleague who has already had a course a while ago I am the only other in the field, so there's not exactly competition for others with regards to training.

    Help your manager out, if he/she has to go and pitch this to senior management to get sign off, write a business case of what benefits this study would bring to the company, play down the benefits to you.

    I have recently signed off some training courses that cost 14k per student with a two year commitment, it massively helped my decision making process when I was presented with a solid business case. In this instance the main benefit is we could charge 30% more for their services post qualification with other benefits such as improved staff retention, staff feel invested in organisation etc

    Thanks for the advice. Good to hear from your personal experience. I will work on a business case and try and focus it on the company's benefits more than mine. My manager is all for it, but you are right, they will have to put the case forward to senior management for sign off.

    UPDATE- I did as you guys suggested. I set up a meeting with the course center, got costs and information and put it all together with a business case.

    Result- Boss is happy, senior management have agreed, just waiting on final sign off now :) Fingers crossed. Thanks a lot for everyone's comments. Much appreciated.

    Revisiting an old thread from a year ago! I'm in good spirits so thought I would share.
