2 Chickens and a breadmaker = nirvana for me

Options
I am so happy. :j I mean truly chuffed to pieces. I have today brought home the two newest editions to our family, a rhode island red cross breed, chickens for those not in the know. They are currently snuggled up in their house. The run I will complete tomorrow.

Plus I succumbed and bought the Panasonic 253 breadmaker on wednesday (was £85.00, knocked them down by haggling to £75.00 in Currys) and already I have made 3 loaves, 2 white and 1 sunflower seed and am now 'proving' a batch of dough to make chelsea buns, which I've never made before. I already reckon we're feeling the benefits in moneysaving as I haven't been to the shops to buy bread and therefore haven't made my usual impulse buys which generally add up to many ££££s. I have noticed the price of bread rising quite steeply recently.

I won't preach to the converted aka breadmaker owners but wow the taste, the smell and the sense of achievement is great. Helps me to alleviate the 'its the summer holidays and I'm still at work whilst my children are off', guilt, daft as it sounds.:o

For a full time working Mum, the satisfaction I felt when we woke up to the smell of baking bread the other morning, may only be surpassed when I start collecting the lovely eggs that my girls will provide us with soon. My other girls, the human offspring kind, are busy thinking of names for our hens.

This is how big the grin on my face is :D.

Thank you Buffy, and a 'miracle' has occurred, my 14 year old DD who has not surfaced until at least 11am most days, got herself up at 7am to let the chickens out to give them their food and water as she wanted to have this as 'her job'. :T
