Sports Direct Fitness Gyms?

Hey guys,

My gym has suddenly closed down (don't worry - not gonna lose out on any money:money:) but I need a new gym. I work in Manchester City center, workout in the mornings (mostly strength) then shower/change for work.

After touring a few places today, I'm torn between Lifestyle Fitness in the Great Northern and the Sports Direct gym. Lifestyle has much more equipment but SD has a pool and hired lockers (so much easier than carrying a towel around). I'm leaning towards SD, at the moment.

So my actual question is, does anyone have experience of Sports Direct gyms - are they decent or a bit too discount? That's my main fear. I love SD but the brand doesn't scream quality at me.

Anyone who's been to the Manchester one would be a star, but even an idea of what their others are like would be great. I'd like to know what I'm getting myself into - and a quick tour of a gym is never that revealing.

  • i go to a sports direct gym in surrey. If you just want the basics then it will be perfect for you. I like it. Does what it says on the tin as they say. Small, friendly and always clean. The only thing i would say is that there is not that many staff around - they are happy to help but normally i find them chatting around the reception!
hope this helps, and probably manchester will be a little different but i think it is great value for money
