HSBC switching mortgage online

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone had any experience with switching from one HSBC mortgage to another using their online service? I have a few questions...
How long does it take from pressing the 'apply' button to getting on to the new rate?
Do they send things out in the post to be signed, or is it all done online?
When do they take any early repayment charge, and what payment methods are available?
Is it worth doing it all online rather than spending ages on the phone to a call centre? (I really don't want to go down the 'advised' route! I know exactly what I need and it will reduce my monthly payments by 30%, and even with the ERC and booking fee, it breaks-even in under 18 months)
