Feeling very lost...

Hi,
I'm feeling very lost. Completion date is tomorrow but we have not been informed when we collect keys, whether everyone has received everything and most importantly we have not been informed when our first mortgage payment will be.
Is this normal? - I've chased our solicitor but they haven't contacted me so I am assuming if they didn't have everything they would contact.

Speak to your lender to find out when the first payment is due. Speak to your solicitor and the estate agents again."Dream World" by The B Sharps....describes a lot of the posts in the Loans and Mortgage sections !!!0

You really need to get hold of your solicitor to confirm that you're on target for completing tomorrow. If you can't get hold of them, try asking the estate agents.
Usually, you will pick up the keys from the estate agents and the solicitor will ring you/email you when completion has taken place to tell you you're free to collect the keys.
In terms of the first mortgage payment, with us, our lender (halifax) wrote to use welcoming us into our new home and informing us of when our first payment was due and how much it would be. We also received a very nice welcome hamper from Halifax which was a nice suprise0 -
OP, have a read of your mortgage offer it should detail the information. It will state how much % interest payable, for the period from completion to first payment and that your first payment may be higher than normal. The lender will also know when completion is, as they have to release the funds to your SOL.
Contact your SOL to elaborate, that's what you pay them for. You can also contact the EA for an update regarding the chain. Good luck with your move.0 -

Lenders are rubbish at informing borrowers regarding first payment and typically send out a letter second class after completion with the information.
You should phone your lender to confirm.
Contact both your solicitor and the estate agent today to ensure everything is on track for completion tomorrow.
If you are due to complete tomorrow your solicitors may already have your mortgage funds in their account.I am a Mortgage Broker

There's little point in sending a letter before completion, as, if completion is delayed, all the information would be wrongEarly retired - 18th December 2014
