It's not easy getting them nowadays.

How about this one at £59.99?

I managed to transfer some VHS tapes to DVD last year using my existing video recorder, a DVD recorder (about £80 at Argos, probably a lot less now), and some scart leads (about £5-8). Don't know if that would work for you? Or it might even be cheaper to see if anyone offers that service locally - I don't know where you live but even here in Exeter we have a shop that will transfer stuff for you. Good luck.

do you have a dvd writer in your PC? if so, you can hook one of these up to your pc and video

albertross - wow that is a great gift idea for my husband - did not realise that something like that existed. Did see something in Richer Sounds that transfers LPs to CDs, so now I have his birthday and x'mas present sorted.

If as the above poster said you have a dvd writer do it from your pc. I am not the most technical of people but I hooked up my dvd plyer with some leads then copied it to hard drive then edited out all the bits of footage where the camcorder was on but was pointing at the floor!! the quality isnt brilliant but thats due to the fact that the old vhs tapes had been lying about for 20 years and they were re-recoderd over and over again. But at least I now have my precious family stuff on dvd
