Opening up a sandwich hut business

so many negative remarks here! From reading some of these replies, I'm surprised anyone would think or dream up a business!
I am a few months down the path from yourself, going to be opening a catering est in the next 6 mths. I don't think that a supermarket would be the best of choices, however, have a re-think... what about retail parks, business parks, find out where the builders merchants/ garages are and see what catering facilities they have? It will be a cheaper market as such, however there is plenty of cash to be made on these sites. Once you have found a potential site, sit out there for a few hours every single day for at least a week, at different times, and count the flow of people. Are there regular workers, do public drop by? Footfall is key to starting up a catering business.
Next, contact the land owner... will they let you have a pitch? It will be rented if on these sites, however it could well be minimal if there is no one else servicing it. You also need to talk to the local council to see what policies they'll need you to follow.
As for a trailer... yes there are companies that build container kitchens for your design, however these tend to be top dollar. Why not have a look around, ebay etc, that will give you a decent nod in the right direction. I'd go for 2nd hand as a start up.
It all mounts up, but this is the sort of research you'll need for any business really. Don't let negative people put you off, but on the other side of the coin, make sure that you enter this with your eyes wide open so that you don't lose money or give someone serious food poisoning etc. Best of luck xxx0 -

The negative remarks are all about the OP selling in a supermarket carpark. Something you have also said wouldn't be the best choice.0
