Could a broker get me a mortgage?

Just an update on this. Spoken with a broker feom L&C who put a mortgage application in with Halifax and Santander... Both passed credit checks but both declined on affordability despite when keying our incomings and outgoings on their website it says we could borrow £150,000. When trying to get a DIP it declines altogether. I am due to speak to my broker on Monday but does anyone know if there is any point continuing? My car is on PCP so im thinking of selling it privately to clear £11000 of debts and hope thats enough to get an accept. Thanks0
