Looking to clean up and paint a childs bike.Is it possible to get the rust off?
What paint should I use and any other useful ideas gratefully received.Would I be able to buy new stickers from somewhere?

Wd40 should get the rust off. There is a paint called Hammerite(not sure if thats spelled right) thats good on metal work. You can always get more with a kind word and a 2-by-4 than with just a kind word.0

Rust is no problem, assuming it's just on the surface of the metal. Just scrub with a wire brush then sand down with wire wool until you're down to bare metal. Then paint the rust spots with primer or use a product called Kurust to seal them. Then paint topcoat. Ordinary enamel paint is fine, but Hammerite will stand up to knocks better and gives a slightly more professional finish. I don't know about stickers but I imagine bike shops might sell them.'Never keep up with Joneses. Drag them down to your level. It's cheaper.' Quentin Crisp0
