Going Bankrupt in Northern Ireland

Hi looking for some advice please

What are the personal allowances you are allowed to add and how much for each is allowable?

What is the process for opening a basic bank acc after bankruptcy?

Thanks in advance
Max

I am so sorry but there really isn't anyone on here who has experience of BR in NI. Unfortunately the rules are different to England and Wales. All we can do is urge you to get some free impartial advice from Stepchange. They will be able to discuss all your options and answer any questions.

From memory they are different for NI. But if you would like to pop up your SoA then we will look at it for you.

    Hi all.

Long time lurker here, but I've signed up to try and help Max

I petitioned my own BR in NI, 25th March this year. I can't really comment on expenditure allowances, I just stuck down what I spend and it was never questioned.

Bank account I opened prior to petition with the co-op. I had to do it by post as there is only one branch here and it's in in Belfast, probably took about three weeks from start to finish. I used to bank with the Ulster Bank and so far the co-op with its online banking has been every bit as good.

Reference going bankrupt in Northern Ireland, I read you can not travel to another country without getting written permission from the court.

Has anyone any experience of this, and do you think it is really necessary bearing the court cost to get permission is £130.00.

I've not had to ask the question about leaving the country but the OR office in Belfast has been so easy going, I'd just give them a call to clear it up.
