I wanna buy a trampoline but I have no grass!!

Im not sure which forum to post this in so hope this is ok. My children have been round my sister's and there is a 13ft trampoline which they absolutely loved. Now they want one! We dont have a big garden but I reckon we could fit an 8ft one in with an enclosure BUT we have no grass, only paving slabs. Does anyone know if it is safe to put them onto the slabs? Obviously I will have an enclosure around the trampoline so no danger of them falling off and landing on hard ground, just wanted an opinion as to whether they are suitable for all surfaces.

My aunt put her kids trampoline on slabs even though there was loads of room on the grass!!! It doesn't have an enclosure, and the most dangerous thing thats happened so far on it was that my daughter fell and got her head wedged between the wall and the shed!!!
If it has an enclosure you should be fine, and after a while my aunt decided that it wasn't safe on slabs (but she didn't want dead patches of grass) so put down some 'fake grass' astroturf type stuff.I believe that I have the strength to make my dreams come true:T September Challenge £5 per day - £0/£150 :T0 -
I sawa trampoline with an enclosure the other day when we were in homebase or some such place.
With all these thread about trampolines must have enclosers etc slighty annoy me because its just the health and safety lot makeing everyone think that every person (child or adult) must be wrapped in cotton wool.
But after seeing one of these enclosures I know as a kid I would have been trying to bounce over the enclosure and out, be far more fun than just bouncing up and down.
But I would not worry too much about it being on slabs as there will be an enclosure then I doubt anyone will hurt themselves. Shame there is no risks left in life......................JeremyMarried 9th May 20090 -
The only thing I can think is that the trampoline may move easier when on a hard surface especially if the surface isn't level. with an enclosure they should be fine. the only danger is falling off when getting on or off. but stick some bubble wrap on the floor bellow the opening in the enclosure and if they fall they will not get hurt.
better still wrap them in bubble wrap so they cant get hurt doing anything.
they are more likely to bust their neck screwing about with more than 1 person on the tramp at a time or trying a somersault.0 -
We have an 8ft trampoline which is now on grass but in our previous house we only had a patio garden so on there it went....
No-one got hurt at all with the enclosure on it but as little john says more chance of them hurting themselves on the darn thing than by getting/falling off it.
My two boys are always getting on it together and within 5 mins one of them is crying as the other has wacked or kicked (by accident) the other, although thay end up back on it before the tears are dry ;-)

Hi, everyone - as you'll see i'm a newbie
Just came across this topic when searching for a new trampoline online. The old one i had for the kids has finally given up and needs replacement. That bein said i've already spent a considerable amount on replacment mats and nets in the past.
Thought i'd give you the heads up on a new design called a Spring-free trampoline from rainbow play systems. It's on santa's christmas list! Anyone heard of these?
Great site you have here! Some great advice floating around!0 -
Hi,
Just had a look at the spring free trampoline, looks great.
But too expensive for us.
There is a uk dealer smallest one costs £450.

The only dealer I can find in the UK selling them.0 -
Costco have the Springfree trampoline. It is the oval one, 13 ft long and 8 ft wide (equivalent to 15ft by 10ft for a normal trampoline, as the springs add a foot on each side). I like the size, because we have it width-ways across the garden, so it looks like an 8ft one from our back window, and seems to take up little room, but it actually has a jumping area nearly as big as a 14 ft circular trampoline with springs. This one:

£590 from Rainbow Play (https://www.rainbowplay.co.uk/sf60.php), plus £60 delivery. £470 at Costco, so that's a saving of £180, if you are near enough to go pick one up.
Not cheap, but it does seem a lot safer than other trampolines.koru0
