Salary Increase in Contract

Hi,
I'd be grateful for some input regarding the following situation I've found myself in.
My current position has a significant pay increase stated in the employment contract to be received after 12 months successful service. I've been in the role 14 months now and although I have contacted the CEO several times, to which they have replied that they are looking into it, 2 pay runs have passed and there has still been no increase. My probationary period was 6 months.
I am going to contact the CEO again regarding this, but as I am starting to believe that this is never going to happen, I'd like to know what my position is regarding employment law. I don't want to be too forceful but there are other employment options for me and, understandably, it is starting to annoy me a great deal.
Thanks in advance

Does it say your increase in salary is discretionary?
I believe that you can be let go from your job for almost any reason (apart from things like sexism, racism, etc) in the first 2 years. You may wish to treat carefully.

Thanks for the reply.
No, the contract states that the pay rise will be given after successful completion of 12 months service. I have a 3 month notice period in the same contract.0 -
If it says clearly that it will be given, you'd have a point in terms of law I believe but what would you want to do about it is another question. If you were to take them to tribunal etc, you only get one shot first of all and it normally takes a lot of time to get a result.ally.0

That sounds like you've found your answer. If you're not being paid the market rate, then either stay put at the lower rate if you're happy with that (maybe the job offers great experience, or travel, or something else that compensates for it) or move on. Even if you went to a tribunal and got an increase, it might not be that impressive and won't do relations any favours.
Once you've handed in your notice, think carefully before accepting any counter-offer as you will be working for an employer you now have a jaded view of, and an employer who may resent having their hand forced. That's not to say never do it, just think it through carefully - knowing what you know now, would you accept a job offer from them over the other? If not don't stay0
