Cleaning Brass

Well, I did the flour, vinegar and salt paste JP08, which did seem to work some. I've used plenty of elbow grease and the last of some old Brasso felt stuff I found lurking in the back of my cleaning cupboard
and I must say it has come up nice and shiny, but not the goldeny colour of the brass I am thinking it should be. Perhaps it needs more elbow grease!
I do live next to a main road, charlies-aunt. My door is on the side of the house and not facing the road and we're quite set back, but I guess there will still be plenty of pollution around to affect the brass fittings.
I must keep up to the vigorous cleaning of them though or they will be black again in no time!
Thanks for your help everyone:T:T:T0
