Shopping on US websites..eg JC Penny

I noticed quite by chance that JC Penny now ship to the uk for a flat rate of around £12.
Seems good?
I did some research and it is as well to shop around..
Just one example
Standard kitchenaid mixer
JC penny website price
in GB £ =£212
In USD converted to GBP=£160
In UK john lewis price GBP £364
So why front a more expensive price to UK customers and a different one to US customers ? Clearly they are adding a loading to subsidise shipping on many products.
The US prices were obtained by using a web proxy
Still ,there may be bargains to be had,,,clothing seems particularly cheap

Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

But don't forget the tax and duty;):

Yeah I wouldn't bother with the hassle of finding the right plug adaptor tbh and the voltage is different.
I bought a US dehydrator and it went on fire as I didn't realise the voltage was different but had used an adaptor. Luckily I was supervising it. You need a transformer or something to convert it.0 -

Not once you add tax duty and handling charges.
I used to buy a certain brand of makeup in the US before mineral makeup became popular in the UK. My orders were usually around £26 including post and packing and I could easily pay another £12 on top of that, mainly for handling charges.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Use the duty calculator to figure out what is owed as some things are zero rated: http://www.dutycalculator.com/new-import-duty-and-tax-calculation/0

It's rarely the duty though that costs- it is usually the handling fee which is payable regardless.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Kitchenaid items are not available for international shipping, along with many other branded items.
JCP adds duty and handling fee during the checkout process. I'm not sure there are any great savings to be made, but at least they are transparent cost wise.0
