Good question. Houses seem terribly expensive at the moment but look to be at the start of a massive bubble.

I think the best investment sector at the moment is infrastructure: roads, rail, mobile phone masts, gas pipelines

Any specific infrastructure shares tips ?
Proudly voted remain. A global union of countries is the only way to commit global capital to the rule of law.

Not really meant to say 'cos I see the internal reporting at work. Gas and oil pipelines can be good depending on their charging structure.

The biggest infrastructure project on earth right now is house building.

Somewhere in the region of 2 billion additional decent homes are needed

Its a market worth the best part of $200+ trillion dollars

How else is the world going to build 2 billion new homes?

How do you go about investing in housing infrastructure?

Excuse my ignorance but how do you go about investing in these particular industries?

You're probably better off on the investment boards but put simply you can invest in individual shares having researched each suitably or you could invest via a mutual fund of some sort, either something that tracks an index and so is very cheap or an actively picked investment fund that will cost you more and may or may not be better than a passive fund.

Ask on the investment board for their thoughts. I've been in finance one way or another for twenty years and I reckon listed infrastructure is an idea whose time has come. Plenty will disagree of course.

Either that or buy a house. Even a blind fool can see another bubble in housing approaching. I don't like BTL as an investment much as I think the risk and costs are too high. Lots of people think I'm wrong and they have a fair argument.

You suggest buying a house but then you suggest there's a housing bubble approaching, so wouldn't this be the would be the wrong time to purchase?
