This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine
Morning all,
Bright and breezy day here so have my washing in the wm and will get it on the line after this.
Waiting for my wood to be delivered this morning, I am so excited :jbeen wanting larder cupboards for ages, what I wouldn't give for a proper walk in larder !
Got to run dd to work this morning then back to help OH with the carpentry.
Not sure about dinner tonight we have loads in the freezer, will go and have a look after this, will either be something quick and easy or shove something in the sc to be cooking while we are working.
Right better get on, have good days all xx

RR, thanks for starting the daily thread.
Hugs to Molly, Elona, Hilly & anyone else in need.
I'ts bright & sunny here, if it lasts the washing will go on the line, I didn't get any done yesterday as we had visitors.
I did a buffet for us all yesterday, so I'll be using up leftovers this weekend, though I'm going out for Sunday lunch tomorrow with my DD's.
I'm collecting DGD who is 7 later & she will stay the night, I'll take her back tomorrow when I pick up her mum to go out for lunch.
I'm starting to lose the vertigo, at last so I'm feeling lots better, I loaded the WM & DW without falling over, which is a great help.
Time I made a cuppa.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning everyone.
Bright here, let's hope it lasts.
I've woken with sore and thick throat, no cold just the froggy throat.
Today it will be various jobs in the house and garden. Going to open the new lawn mower and OH will tackle the overgrown grass. I scattered some wildflower seeds in several places in the garden yesterday, got the Go Wild ones fron Kew Garden. The instructions said to not cover them so I scattered them amongst other flowers. There are hordes of 'Welsh Poppies' everywhere, their small yellow flowers are lovely.
Might put a wash on, the lovely roofer left huge muddy footprints on my two rugs, better that than on the carpet, so they need another go in the machine.
Bought a pizza for OH, I'm not too keen but he is. After that it's anyone's guess.
Hope everyone is doing well today.0 -

Glad you're feeling better Hester xx
We wasted our money on the oven part, that wasn't the problem. There are three things that could be the problem, so it's a process of elimination. It actually works out cheaper to buy them all and hope, than get an expert to come out and test it (£90 + VAT just to check, before parts). We've ordered the next thing – only £8 so not too bad. Knowing my luck, it'll be the last thing on the list
I forgot to buy cress seeds, so just have mustard on the go
Scampi loves to bark – I may have mentioned this!! - but we're finally getting it under control. If the neighbour's pup is in her garden, Scampi goes nuts. He's mostly OK when he sees another dog, but can't stand smelling/hearing one and not seeing it. I'm always telling him off and calming him down, neighbour says 'oh is he still struggling?' with that tone in her voice, but friendly too, IYSWIM. This morning her dog was going nuts at something before I let Scampi out. When I did, he barked at the fence, I told him off and he trotted off to do his usual morning ritual of sniffing the flower pots. Her dog wouldn't stop barking and she had to take him in. I just thought 'ha, not so perfect now, are you?'
The weather's nice today. I need to put the washer on, just one load today thankfully and it should dry quickly. I'll get a few garden jobs done this morning. The veg patch will have to wait til mr tru's home from work – Scampi 'helps' by digging everything up so he's not allowed on there, we've had to put a strange sort of gate up til we can buy a proper one. He wimpers and barks if you leave him on the other side, howls if you leave him in the house. He's OK if he can't see you from the house (he probably assumes you've gone out?) but everything is mesh/chicken wire so he knows you're there. And stares intently til you feel so guilty, you give up :rotfl: No idea what I'm doing this afternoon.

Morning All
Fantastic morning here, just been to collect a package from the sorting office and only had a t shirt on - unbelievable. I've heard it's to rain later!
Still, washing on the line, DD can take that in before she goes out later.
I'm off to the Ideal Home Show with a friend, actually quite looking forward to it. Only down side is George Clark was there yesterday - I could cry as I missed him last year too!
Going to friend's house afterwards, her OH is making us dinner. Unfortunately he likes to ply folk with drink so I will have to be very careful as I hate hangovers.
Hugs to all that need them, have a good weekend. Take care. XX0 -
Morning ((((((((((((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))))))))) if you need one.
OH is in full moving mode after yesterdays news. He went out and bought 2 bags of compost yesterday afternoon, have to admit that a couple of plants found their way into my basket as well.
He wants some veg plants so we are off to the library and then the local nursery to see what he can get. When we move the nursery will be much closer to us....gulp......
I changed my mind about the colour of the carpet last night, I wanted green, but we can no longer get the blue green that I like so going with a neutral colour instead. Well you cannot have everything you want in life can you?
Its fine but dull here this morning.0 -
Afternoon all
Lovely day here. Oh is about to cut the back lawns-think Bill and Ben-as he is wearing shorts t shirt and floppy hat. I put a load of washing out before he started.
We had a surprise this morning. We were just awake about 8.45 and DS still at home says we are invited out for breakfast to celebrate his girlfriends fathers 65th. We were showered and on our way in 15 minutes. DS driving as OH not quite awake.
Nice breakfast at local toby carvery pub place. Not too busy, good food and company.
Back home to put washing on and sit in the garden.
OK offski to put washing out. Hugs to all and spoons.
Have a good day everyone.

Hi all
Been to allotment to help put up the shed. A fellow allotmenteer gave us some fence panels and a gate, DH has recycled into shed.
I've been busy moving herbs to make room for the greenhouse we are buying from a friend. Just call us the Wombles!
Had a lovely day out yesterday at Down House, on our English heritage membership, home made picnic too.
Dinner from freezer then the Eurovision for us tonight.
Have a good weekend allCarolbee0 -
Afternoon all. Not a bad day here and pleasantly warm. Washing (all the bedding) dried in no time.
Just had very late lunch as we popped into town late morning for a few bits I wanted. Main thing being M & S dusted and seeded haddock but got tempted by a few other nice bits which caught my eye. I think everyone bar me was buying the Dine in for £10 offer!
Well done CSARINA on getting your bungalow, you must be so excited! And how unusual for a sheltered housing property to have such a big garden. No such luxuries at the sheltered properties in our area. Most are set in lawned areas criss-crossed by paths.
Eurovision for us too tonight, though Mr TA pretends he is watching it under sufferance! I quite like our entry this time, it's a bit different. Though doubt anyone will vote for us!
Have a nice what remains of the day ((((((((HUGS))))))) to those in need. xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Mr LW has been and paid a deposit for our replacement car. The dealership have agreed to let him have a loan car from Tuesday, which is when the loan car he got via the insurance has to go back, and hopefully he'll have the new one very soon. My task in all this is to ensure that all the money required is sitting in his bank account on the appointed day. I really will be glad when it's all done and dusted; I've felt thoroughly ill for the last four weeks because of all this.
Thank goodness for Pippa - she's kept me from going completely off my head this week! I need to write her "postcard" tomorrow, as she's being collected Monday morning. If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Good to read that you are more in control LW.
It's a drizzly kind of evening. Still lovely and light but damp. I lit the woodburner earlier and then wished I hadn't, not cold enough and I'm burning up! OH is toasty though.
I couldn't resist a large yellow pot of Margueritas at a garden centre today, it goes so well with my dark blue front door. Bought a couple of other plants for the gsrden too.
I'm in bed, OH is downstairs doing geeky things.0
