Applying for

Anyone know how I would apply for South Lanarkshire/Glasgow City council jobs, wouldn't mind doing something like a bin man, or is it a refuse collector or waste disposal operative they call it these days:D
Not the most cleanest of jobs but that wouldn't bother me, easy enough job, start early finish early-ish and get good pay. Had a look on there websites and can't find anything about applying for this specific job role.
I checked out myjobscotland website, then clicked 'councils' then picked South Lanarkshire & Glasgow City, but again there is no "apply" for that specific job role for bin man.

It sounds as if there are no current vacancies.0

Yeh that does seem to be the case but I thought you could still apply.0

I don't know but you could ring them up and ask for the HR department and explain you are interested, ask about whether there is a waiting list/whether you can apply now for there's a vacancy etc. You might get lucky, it's worth a phone call or 2 anyway.

Its worth trying to be proactive and ringing the Hr departments direct as dancingfairy suggested.
Or if Lanarkshire council runs anything like one of the councils I worked at the route to a perm job in the refuse dept was to get a temp job first they rarely advertised direct, if you proved yourself and fitted in with the team they would move across to perm roles.
Here is a list of agencies that cover that sector in and around glasgow might be worth a morning on the phone, good luck op.0
