Kettle

My new travel kettle is making the Tea/coffee taste terrible. Is there anything I can do to improve this

  • Keep using fresh water every time and give it a good rinse out every time you use it.
    Our kettle was like that, it will go after a few boils.

    yep, or you could drop in to a full kettle a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda, leave it stand an hour or so (or overnight), then pour it out and rinse it. boil the kettle, pour out the water and it should be fine next time.
    I had to do this once as no matter how many times I boiled the kettle it just tasted of plastic.

    I'm sure there was an article recently about this in one of the papers.

    I think several people complained about a strange taste in Russell Hobbs kettles. Then, there was a rise in other makes (and travel kettles among them). Some experts thought it was down to the materials that are used in covering the element or in sealing the plate that covers the element - depending on the type you have.

    Non metal kettles had the most complaints.
