Crisps in Spain
hi - hoping someone can help. Last year on holiday in Ibiza spain, we bought crisps out of Lidl but didn't really have a clue what the flavours were supposed to be. In case we buy crisps this year, I was wondering could someone please give a list of Spanish flavours and what they translate to in English. Thanks.

Are those actual flavours sold in Spain or just translations of English crisp flavours?
I don't think I've bought crisps in Europe for years, but they used to usually be either plain salted or paprika.Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon

Spain tends to have different flavours. I like one that appears to be tomato based flavour wise. I get them in Dia but I think they are available elsewhere.
Spoke to dd who lives out there and they are Sabor Campesina made by Lays. Tomato & Garlic flavour (you can get them on Amazon UK but expensive)This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Another vote for paprika mainly, also ready salted.
Definitely no "tocino ahumado" or "sel con Linekar". :eek:0 -
Jamon is very very common, that is ham flavour.
Also Queso Jamon - cheese & ham.
Paprika is common and we found some barbecue flavour which is Barbacoa in Spanish.
Pringles are all in English anyway :-)
We bought in Gran Canaria from a mixture of Lidl & HiperDino stores.0 -
Many thanks for all your replies0

Do they not have pictures of the flavour on the packets? A ham end, a bit of cheese, a tomato or a pepper etc?0

No, you can't. It's a bit of an unwritten rule in the UK that supermarkets own brand follow the same 'colours' as the main brand leaders.
But that does not always follow. Main one being Walkers Cheese and Onion and Walkers Salt & Vinegar crisps.
Walkers colours for these products is 'blue' for Cheese and Onion and 'green' for Salt & Vinegar. All other product suppliers of these two products do the colours in the opposite way.
To be honest with foreign crisps, I tend to go by visualization of the packet and the ingredient listing. The more I live, the more I learn.
The more I learn, the more I grow.
The more I grow, the more I see.
The more I see, the more I know.
The more I know, the more I see,
How little I know.!!0
