Im getting married in a few weeks and have got a dress and jacket but somehow Im not 100% happy with it.
Im marrying for the 2nd time and Im just turned 60 but not a frumpy 60. Still love my jeans and have longish hair!
Trouble is, Im not small - size 18/20 depending on the style. Ive tried allsorts on. I fancied a maxi dress but they do nothing for me. I have big boobs and hips and Im very conscious of the tops of my arms now. Luckily my face is in quite good condition, lol, but Im sure the rest of my body is not really mine.
The dress I have bought is knee length (oh, I also have legs like tree trunks!) with a short cap sleeve. It is a white background with a floral pattern in different shades of blue and it has cross over panels at the hips which actually seems to have a slimming effect on me. With it I have a three quarter sleeve bolero type navy jacket with a little pleat and bow on the back.
I really like it but somehow I don't feel 'special' in it.
I love bright colours but don't suit pastels and definitely cant do anything waisted as my hips look like bookends when I wear a dress with a belt.
I cant have a material that is too clingy for the same reasons.
Its a registry office wedding and obviously I don't want a 'proper' wedding gown but Im feeling a bit more 'mother of the bride' than bride in what Ive chosen.
Any suggestions please.

They do dresses in all sorts of coloursproud gran to 4 lovely boys and one little girl0 -
Thank you very much. I have looked at the dresses and they are really gorgeous- but- they are mostly fitted at the waist and also sleeveless so wont do for me, but they are really nice, thanks.0

Maybe one of those with a bolero?

How about something like this:

There are a few other Jenny Packham ones on Debenhams that may also work.0 -

Thank you for the suggestions, I tried one in Debenhams very similar to the one suggested yesterday.
I finally got fixed up in Monsoon where I found a white dress with a very loose elbow length lace sleeve and diamante around the middle. I love it and it feels so much more 'wedding like' than my first option. I will keep that outfit for a day at the races or some other occasion.
Moral of the story, don't be so eager to buy something that you buy in haste.0
