Transferring a dependents pension to a SIPP

I look after a SSAS fund which includes a recipient below 55 in receipt of a dependants pension. The fund is considering converting to individual SIPPs, but we can't find any information on whether we can transfer a dependants pension into a SIPP and still pay out to someone under 55. Logic would suggest that this should be possible but logic and pensions regulations are often very different, so unless we can find a specific allowance for this we are stuck with the SSAS fund. Has anyone ever done this or know how it is allowed?

The dependant's pension is already in drawdown? As I understand it, it is normally possible to transfer to transfer a pension in drawdown to a SIPP. That said, have you put the question to a few SIPP providers? They would normally be able to indicate whether such a transfer would be accepted, but I am wondering whether there might be special requirements as when a transfer from a scheme with a protected pension age earlier than 55 is mooted.

I imagine that a sign off from an IFA qualified in pension transfers and with the necessary permissions) would also be required.
