Declined mortgage appeal

Options
Hi,

Went in to Santander today and applied for a 95% help to buy mortgage but we were declined due to having two missed consecutive payments on a catalogue last year. This was due to our daughter being ill and in hospital. We also missed one when she was born. We have appealed the decision and and are awaiting the outcome, they know the reasons for the late payment.

Has anyone been in this situation and had a good outcome.

Thanks x

The eventual outcome may depend on a far broader range of factors. Where you declined at the Decision in Principle stage?

We had an offer accepted Friday so made an appointment to see morthage advisor. Went through all outgoings and affordability but as soon as the credit checks were done it was declined, due to the missed payment so the advisor called to ask if we could appeal and they said yes.

I think it might've been the decision in principal stage as after this has been done it then goes to an underwriter. I'm new to to this as first time buyer x
