If the policy is to privatise I cannot see why Cat A would be exempt. Once the ECHR is repealed anything will be possible, we could simply abandon convicts on islands like North Rona and Sroma to fend for themselves. :)

Perhaps hanging, drawing & quartering could make a comeback;)

Sorry but your post comes across as typical Guardianista fare, fretting about the world from one of your two kitchens in North London.;)
In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:

I'm hoping they do go on a work to rule.

Might get some stuff done if they do.

    Who is repealing the ECHR?

Strictly they cannot abolish the ECHR. They just abolish the Human Rights (Act) so that the ECHR has no force in the UK.

Not sure if you were being pedantic or simply unaware of the Conservative Manifesto commitment.

Yours comes across as typical of someone who has never had to fight for any of the human rights you take for granted.:)

There are international awards for probation services? Which years did the UK win? Or is it just England and Wales?

That's exciting. Can you link to the website of the awards site? I'd love to see who's winning now the UK/England one is such a mess. Go Aussie!

I've often thought that this needs addressing, but nothing ever seems to happen.
I presume it would cost a fortune to raise public sector wages to a level that would make houses affordable in the South-East. Mind you, they have saved a fortune by reducing public sector pay by around 16% in real terms in the past 5 years.

Public sector pay needs to reflect the same output and productivity as the private sector. As a consequence is in many instances too high.

Perhaps private sector pay is too low? Or maybe you are comparing apples with oranges?
