Cleaned out the store cupboard!!!!

Well, it had to happen, it was inevitable.
We cleaned out our large kitchen cupboard where we keep dried herbs, spices, tins (all kinds of tins) and bottles (vinegar, oils etc).
We have found - 6 x baked beans, 6 x chickpeas, 4 x black eyed beans, 6 x chopped tomatoes, 3 x artichoke hearts, 3 x pineapple slices and cubes, 2 x custard, 2 x stuffed vine leaves, 6 by exotic ready made middle Eastern food, 5 x red wine vinegar (must be a World shortage now;)), beef tongue, kidney beans, and enough spices to keep an Indian takeaway going for a month.
Now, where did I put those plans to build a fallout shelter:rotfl:

We did that a few months ago. It was shocking the amount we chucked. The problem was that since becoming ill nearly 3 years ago, I haven't done the cooking and my husband isn't much of a cook (although he's learning).

I always do a store cupboard cull once a month and take things that we will not use and put them in the bags that we do for the food bank.
It sounds bad but I can assure you that we also put extra tins and packets into our shopping trolley every week.

I try to put things like tinned meat, different FB pies, tuna, mince, mackerel, ham, LL milk, sugar, tea, coffee, crackers and the like, plus toilet rolls , lady pads, toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, shampoo etc because these are the things that are least donated.

Our food bank has vast amounts of pasta, rice and tinned veg, but meat is that bit more expensive, so they tend not to have enough.
It doesn't have to cost the earth but it is a lifeline for those left destitute by this government:mad::mad:

    Sorry to hear that.
I may have to concoct some spicy, hot recipes using no meat and just the beans, chopped tomatoes, spices and stuff from the fridge (peppers, chillis and the like).
