I think I missed this tax year for a tax rebate

Last year between julyish - november , I worked as agency for class recruitment.
Because I was deemed self-employed I paid a lot of tax when I shouldn't have since I was under the maximum amount and was told to claim a tax rebate, however I think I missed this years deadline. I have most of my pay slips from the agency but what happens now?

Not too late, you can claim for the previous four year.
What's your current employment situation?
You may need to do self-assessment.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
I'm now employed by a nursery.
I found a HMRC form called "Details of leaving work" but I'm not sure if i need to fill it in or not?
At the time I worked saturdays and some sundays in primark then agency work in the week.
I've now left both in march '15 & november '15
what is a self-assessment? Tax is confusing me...NSD 3/25 | SA: £38.00 | EF: 38.130 -

it would help if you provided some more details
did you receive payslips?
if so what tax code was on them?
when you left did you receive a P45
have you received a P60
what were you doing between april 2014 and July?
what did you do between Novemebr 2014 and april 2015?EU tariff on agricultual product 12.2%
some dairy products 42.1% cloths 11.4%

I received pay slips, but i'll have to reply with the tax code at a later date since I don't have them on hand right now.
I think my current work has those P45&P60?
April-July = College & working at primark
November-April 2015 = Working in the nursery where I am currentlyNSD 3/25 | SA: £38.00 | EF: 38.130 -

best to try to get all the documents together and post when you have them to hand
when you left Primark in july did they give you a P45?
what does it say about your total income and tax and taxcode
when you started at the agency did you give them the P45?
there is still some confusion about whether you were self employed or employed
Look at your pay documentation
when you left did you receive a P45 (only if an emplyee)
when you started at the nursery did you give them the P45 ?
you should have received a P60 from the nursery in april/may so you should have it my now.
for your info
when you leave a PAYE job you should receive a P45 which you give (retain your own copy) to your next employer.
you receive a P60 from your current employer as of 5th AprilEU tariff on agricultual product 12.2%
some dairy products 42.1% cloths 11.4%

If you were registered as self-employed, you should have had a letter a few weeks ago telling you to complete a tax return.
If you didn't, it's possible that you never actually registered as self-employed with HMRC.
I'd write to them, detailing the total amount you earnt from each job in 2014/15, and asking them to do the necessary calculations.
For example:
"I earnt £3000 at Primark, £2000 at ABC Corp, and £1500 self-employed profit. I've paid £400 tax. How much should I have paid?"0 -
I've only just got my P60 arrive yesterday for the agency work I did?NSD 3/25 | SA: £38.00 | EF: 38.130

a P60 must be sent by an employer if you remain on their payroll at 5th April each year. It is a legal requirement that the employer must send the form to you by 31st MayDeafLeopard wrote: »I've only just got my P60 arrive yesterday for the agency work I did?
If you have 2 or more ongoing jobs you will get 2 or more P60s - it appears therefore that you have received a P60 from the nursery and the agency. On that basis it seems you have not "left" the agency as they still have you on their books
when you leave a job the employer gives you a P45 which summarises all the income and tax paid in that job. The document has 2 parts, you give one to your next employer so they can set you up correctly and you are required to keep the other part for your own records. Presumably Primark give you a P45 but the agency has not. You continue at the nursery so they quite correctly should not give you a P45 as you are not a leaver.
If you are an employee it is not your responsibility to inform HMRC that you have left a job, that is down to your employer.0 -
