nationwide flex account

Anyone on here know when Nationwide will accept an ex IVAer or bankrupt.

I currently have an unused basic account with them, but upgrade request online are instantly declined. I'm 1 year past IVA completion, about 18 months from going down IVA route, i've managed to obtain 2 subprime cards so i don't want or need an overdraft.

They upgraded mine a while back, but that was after everything was off credit files, so I can't if there is much chance before or not.

    The nationwide site\system is odd

Had a ad\offer displayed for a credit card, suggested I could have £1000 based on salary no doubt)limit then declined on credit check(I thought I would, but if accepted it would have built internal score)

Odd that they displayed a credit card offer to me, but won't let me pay for a bank account

I have a cash card account with them (had flex account pre BR that was closed although I owed them nothing) Allowed me the basic account as soon as I was discharged, but have been told I cannot upgrade to the normal flex account again until the BR drops off my file which is November this year.

  • I found 'normal' bank accounts were a no no until my bankruptcy dropped off my credit file. So 6 years. Other's may have had different experiences.
