Coupon newbie - stacking?

Hi all,
I recently moved to the UK and because I do not own a printer (and I cannot install any software on my work-pc) I was able to get some manufacturer's coupons as it is sometimes possible to have them send to you.
I just got them in the mail but they state "cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer"
Does this mean I cannot use them if the item is already on sale? Like 2 for 3 pounds or 99p off
Thanks in advance!

It's against the rules to use them "in conjunction with any other offer". But the tills don't throw up a warning and I've never had, or heard of a checkout operator refusing one because the item was on offer. In fact, I've never seen or heard of one even checking for this.0
