Wedding Venue Gone Into Administation

I am freaking out

My wedding is in less than 3 weeks and I have just found out my venue has gone in to administration.

Before anyone asks the obvious - no I do not have wedding insurance. Yes, I know this was unbelievably stupid. But it was just something that I totally forgot about.

The venue have assured me the wedding will still go ahead, and that it is really nothing to worry about. They promise all it will mean is a change of ownership and that nothing will affect our day at all.

I am just worried now (obviously). I don't really know what this means or where this leaves us???

Get the venue to give you contact details for the appointed Administrators. Then get in touch with the Administrators, and ask their intentions - it may be that they intend to let the venue continue to trade whilst searching for someone to buy it out, in which case your wedding can go ahead.

Thanks I will - good advice. They have actually stated in the paper who the administrators are so I will give them a ring.

Keep us updated on your wedding. I took wedding insurance but didn't use it so can totally see why many won't. Would be good to find out how your wedding was.

Everyone hopes that they won't need to use any kind of insurance but thank the stars that they did when they need to claim on it

I must admit that taking out wedding insurance didn't occur to us. Our reception venue was actually my wife family home and the wedding was in the local church so I suppose the risks were actually quite low.

Having said that, the premiums look quite reasonable and probably well worth it for the peace of mind.
  • Mine has too, don't suppose you're from Leicestershire are you?!? Do not worry, if it's a successful venue and booked up for the next year or so someone will buy it, with your wedding so close you will be fine, mine isn't for another 15 months! Xx
