Hi
I am in debt of University. I was enrolled in a MA degree in September 2009. The fee was £8900 and I paid £3000 and started course. Then at the same time due to loss in business I couldn't pay rest and was not allowed to submit my final thesis. The matter was passed to debt recover company and I set monthly installments of £50. so far I have paid £3000 to that company and remaining amount is £3000. Now I want to borrow money to pay the rest in one go but don't know if they will let me submit my thesis and complete degree or simply take fee as contracted. In that case I will continue paying £50/month. The problem is when I ask debt company they advice me to speak to finance dept of uni and when I call them, they say that they can not give any info and will decide only once received full amount. What should I do as borrowing money will be expensive and I don't want to do it for nothing.

Hi
Didnt want to read and run, but I honestly have no advice regarding university fees or anything. Could you not apply for a student loan?Total Debt in Feb 2015 - £6,052 | DEBT FREE 26/05/2017Swagbucks £200 Valued Opinions £100Dave Ramsey Baby Step 2 | Mr Money Mustache Addict0 -
Does your course allow you to submit late? You should make sure that the £8900 was not for a fixed period of time as it may be if you have not submitted within the required period they will ask for extra anyway for extensions/late submission.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. I m not sure but one of my class mate done it in 2013 means in 4th year after initial enrolment. And coz he was an overseas student whose visa for studies was over thats why he sent fee and assignment from abroad and got his degree0 -
I think if you pay the remainder of the debt, then I believe you have a good case to have your thesis submitted. If the University is still being difficult, then I would either write directly to the vice chancellor, or perhaps ask the student's union for advice.0

Is there nothing that covers this eventuality in the University's regulations, which should be on their web site?0
