How far in advance to start work on remortgaging?

My 5 year fix comes to an end in September and I'll be looking to take a new fix - likely via a different mortgage provider.


This is the first time I've had to re-mortgage so my question is, how much lead time should I give this to start work on finding and applying for a new mortgage? 3 months? 30 days?

Who is the mortgage with? I know you can remortgage with halifax 3 months before end date without having to pay fees.

Yorkshire Building Society - will dig out the documentation but from memory the table for early repayment charge takes us right up to the day

Nationwide was 90 days...then the new mortgage began
I'm 2yrs 3 moths remaining since switching online from 3yr to 5yr fix..natwide online.

I love the convenience and technology..works well after normal working hours.

Hopefully switch again with Natwide summer 2017.. I expect rates would have risen by then...hopfefuly the base rate and what natwide increases doe not exceed 6% (the rate 1st 3 yrs)
been making small overpayments for past 2 yrs.com though not sure if I can take more than 2% + overpayments
