epic revival! I assume no one has found anywhere to buy this in bulk? Supermarkets are a rip off

I'm not too sure what that would make small shops then??
Some fantastic bargains to be had in the supermarkets of late - keep on fighting each other!!

Morries have the Alpro almond milk on offer for £1 - both sweetened and unsweetened as well as coconut milk - until the 12th of May.
They also have the Blue Diamond almond milk on offer for £1 - same dates as above.

Waitrose have the Blue Diamond on offer for £1 too - until 12th of May.

£1 is enough to pay and often at this price, even if you have to buy multiples.

Hubby prefers the hazelnut milk - especially with muesli.

It makes small shops a bigger rip off.

yes they're on offer at £1 in places right now but often they sit around £1.70. Considering nutritionally they aren't exactly fantastic it is a huge amount to pay for what you're getting. If all the supermarkets are doing 1L for £1, it gives you some insight to profit margin.

It seems there are plenty of people here who use milk alternatives, therefore finding a bulk buy opportunity somewhere would be well received

My GP told me to reduce my lactose for a month as suffering from bloatiness and cramp when consumed lactose.

Not keen on the taste of soya milk in hot drinks. Though I have used almond milk in smoothies.

I drink KOKO coconut milk it has not got a taste of coconuts at all,
the whole family drink it as I cant consume dairy for the same reasons.
Almond milk has a fairly strong Marzipan-y type taste, but if you like that then there are always deals on at the big supermarkets most often a £1 a carton, and some do their own brand version of Almond milk which can be cheaper, :)

At the moment Tescos own brand of almond milk (chiller not UHT) is on 3-4-2 and works out to around £1 a carton.

IME, almond, coconut and other nut milks are the most expensive so if cost is an issue, try to wean yourself onto soya or something more widely available. It may also be an issue if you drink coffees out at all.

I really like almond, oat and the simply milk soya milk Alpro have which comes in a green carton. It could be worth trying this as it doesn't taste that strongly unlike plain soya which does have a quite defined taste.

I would also say, after having to give up dairy a few years ago; I really miss dairy! I loved dairy, tried EVERYTHING to find something which worked for me and ended up for a few years going without. Nothing was up to the match.
I don't know if it was the long break without anything or if it was a change in mindset in some other way but in the past 2 years I've managed soya fine but tend to see it now not as something to replace dairy but as a taste/drink in it's own right. If you are looking for something to replace dairy, your going to make it very hard for yourself and possibly waste a lot of money and effort in the process. But if you think of it more like "it isn't dairy, wont taste like dairy and is something new/different" it is a lot easier to find the taste tolerable.

I started out with it being added to coffees when out; just make very sure the coffee house in question uses Alpro or Kallo soya milk because most other types curdle with water and it just looks gross!

And if you are really time-wealthy, you can buy your own nut-milk maker. I've not done this myself, others have and seem to report well with it. It just looks like a long way around things ! Possibly cheaper if you have the time. (And the energy and can be bothered with all the nut purchases!)

It's never massively cheap, not compared to cows milk, and because it is becoming an 'in' thing to drink there are lots of new brands coming in taking advantage.

It wont be long before the supermarkets to their own versions which should drive down the price!

Ah! I think it was a supermarket own brand soya milk and that made the coffee taste gross and look minging.

I try out one carton -to see how I go.

Make sure you let the hot drink cool down slightly before adding the soya.
