Britannia existing customer deals

Options
Morning people, this is info required for a friend who isn't as knowledgeable about mortgages.

Basically, he is with Britannia, and his variable rate term has come to an end so he has gone onto the SVR rate, obviously increased amount.

However, his job role has changed, he is no longer employed but self employed, but has been only for around 14 months.

I have said that the SVR rate is higher than any fixed deal he can get with Britannia as a customer retention deal, even fee free. He is worried about the whole affordability that is now required, as he does not have two years of accounts.

Do Britannia do a retention process that does not look into affordability etc, but merely a product switch over the phone?

He does not want to change the term or amount.

Many thanks.

According to the website they do offer execution only to existing customers in certain circumstances.

I will reach a similar situation in September and I will be looking to go down that route. If you could let me know how he gets on that would be helpful.
