Dismissal & notice period/sick pay advice please?

Hi

I am currently off work due to illness on SSP (half pay ran out last week). I have been told my employers are considering dismissing me, however if they do dismiss me due to my illness I will be entitled to several weeks of notice and I will not need to work my notice.

I would like to know if this notice would be paid, and if so would if be at SSP rate or my normal wage?

Also would I need to continue handing in my Drs notes for the notice period.

Thanks :)

How long have you worked there?

How many weeks contractual notice does the employer need to give you?

Just noticed that the following is from a Northern Ireland website. Where are you?
    From http://www.nidirect.gov.uk/notice-and-notice-pay
There is a ‘right to minimum pay during the notice period’ that means you get your normal pay even when you aren’t in work and your contract doesn’t say you’ll be paid. If this right applies to you, it means that you get your normal pay during the notice period if you are:
    • off sick
    • on holiday
    • temporarily laid off
    • on maternity/paternity/adoption leave
Whether you need to submit doctor notes would depend on what your employer actually said about any requirement for you to work. Is there a problem in obtaining such notes?

The right to full pay does not apply if your contractual notice is 4 weeks and you have only been there 10months.

    What's your evidence for this?

    Employment act.

There is an exclusion if your contractual employer notice is a week or more longer than the Statutory notice.

    Thank you

I'm really confused. I work for ciicl service and I googled and it says civil servants aren't entitled to notice pay? Hand book says 1 week and verbally was told 'around 4 weeks'.
