Smithfield Meat Market - London

Hi all,

I'm really interested in going down to Smithfield meat market in London one day this week - just looking for some advice if anyone has been there.

I know the best time to arrive is around 3-4am, which is fine - but does anybody know what the prices are like... for, say Fillet Steaks?

Would be good to know some approximate prices before deciding if it's worth a trip!

I'd always assumed that it was for traders only, so I'm going to follow this thread with interest, as we too would possibly be tempted to go if it's open to the general public. Maybe if the minimum purchase quantities are large we could form a mini buying group?

I used to work opposite smith fields (not the best place for a veggie ). By the time I got yo work about 8am most of it was closing.
