Russian Visa with Irish Passport

Hi
I have taken out an Irish passport (in addition to my UK one) as I require a tourist visa for Russia. The UK ones entail going to Edinburgh or London to supply biometric data (fingerprints) & are dearer than the Irish ones that don't require biometric data. Are there any problems with me being a permanent resident in Northern Ireland (UK) and getting the Russian Embassy in Dublin to post them out to me or for me to collect them?
Has anyone else done this?

Not sure about that but in 2006 we got our Chinese visas on our UK passports through the Chinese Embassy in Dublin. We just dropped our passports off and collected them when they were ready. The Chinese didn't seem to care that we were resident in Northern Ireland. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. A guy in work told me he'd done this twice (NI resident, British passport but went to Dublin to get his Russia visa). I got a lot of questions last year about why I would want to go to Dublin to get mine, ended up getting it from London in the end.0

Just seeing this thread now :-)
In 2005 I went down to Dublin to get my Russian visa in my Irish passport. No problem. It wouldn't have made any difference if I'd taken my British passport. I took public transport from Belfast and the Russian Embassy is a bit of a walk from the closest DART but a nice enough walk.
It was going to be quicker for me to get my visa in one day from Dublin than not knowing how quick it would be returned to me from London if posted - I'd sent my passport to the Mongolian Embassy in London (I think it was), and it could have taken up to a month to be returned, thus why I had decided on actually travelling to Dublin for the Russian visa. (Though my passport was returned from the Mongolian Embassy within a couple of days!)
The guy in the embassy was more interested in my name than why I wanted a visa or where I was going in Russia :-) He liked my name 'cause 'it was a russian name' (Victoria)
But you can take your passport to any embassy in the world to get a visa for that country. For example, I took my Irish passport to the Vietnamese Embassy in Hong Kong to get my visa to vietnam.
Hope you have a great time in Russia.#96 of the Norn Iron Club

We sent passports by post to get Russian Visas....no need to go to the embassy.0

So with a UK passport, living in Belfast, I can get my visa from Dublin? The russian irish embassy website says you need proof of Irish residency so does living in Belfast count?0
