Regular Comps ie Times / Heart etc QQ for posters

Quick question for the posters.
I often come across Heart / Times / Guardian etc comps when searching, but ignore them because I'll think Weeowens usually posts these, or Laks will usually post these or whoever.
Is that the right way I should be thinking, or are these just a "Free for all", post them as you find them kinda thing?
Don't wanna step on anyone's toes (but just posted one anyway from heart)

No comper 'owns the right' to post a particular comp.0

Nor indeed has anyone the right to tell people where else they can post comps if they so chose.
I was quite alarmed to see someones' signature the other day - can't remember who - which told people they shouldn't 'steal comps or answers' or some such guff.
Comps are public domain you'll just have to live with it.0 -

this was posted by MSE Andrea & moved into the compers guide..
Posting Comps
1 How can I find comps to post on here, I’ve entered loads & want to give some back?
Regular compers on MSE already post the daily ITV comps & will arrange for someone to cover them if they aren't going to be around - because the search facility won't pick something up for at least 30 mins after posting, please remember that regular posters will probably already have this in hand!
Also, the magazine comps that have their own threads will have lists of people that buy the magazines, answer the puzzles then post the answers on here for others. Please respect these existing posters as it is their money they are handing over to buy the mags & give us the answers. If you are interested in helping out or posting a particular magazine then either post in that mags thread or if you can't find the actual thread then post in the Compers Chat Corner Board to ask about it & another comper will be along to help point you in the right direction.
At the end of the day, no comper 'owns the right' to post a particular comp but please take a moment, have a look around & ask in the Compers Chat Corner Board, if necessary, to ask if there is a regular poster for a particular comp. Let's keep this a friendly place to play, avoid duplication & misunderstandings

the web/email etc comps are generally a 'who finds the comp first' usually post ie:
if i'm searching my usual emails & a site has posted a new comp i'll do a search & if it's not posted i'll post it up for everyone,
that's what the 'team' spirit used to be on here whoever finds a comp not posted we try to get it on to share with allplease be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly.0 -
I understand about the Magazine comps, was more about the free web comps, such as Times, heart etc (where you don't necessarily need to buy a paper / mag).
"At the end of the day, no comper 'owns the right' to post a particular comp but please take a moment, have a look around & ask in the Compers Chat Corner Board, if necessary, to ask if there is a regular poster for a particular comp."
That's what I'm doing
Some of them, such as Heart seem to be a bit of a free-for-all ... but like I said, I don't want to step on anyone's toes if they usually post them (or think that it's their remit to post them).0 -

afaik the Times/Heart/etc are as you say free web comps,
I should think there's loads of us regularly search them sites
for new comps &/or have them subscribed/newsletters to,
afaik & all the time I've been on here afaicr it's
first finding the comp posts them if they've not been posted.
I could be wrong now days though as the site seems to be
changing a lot so hopefully others will give their views.please be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly.0 -
The thing I used to do was pm the reg poster and say I'd spotted one and give them the link.#JusticeForGrenfell0

This is my way of working - it's not THE way of working.
I search using the domain to see if it is already posted - this will also show if one particular member is the regular poster.
1) If it closes shortly - post it.
2) If it has no regular poster - post it.
3) If I think the regular poster will definitely find and post the comp shortly as part of their normal comping - do nothing.
4) If the regular poster may not spot the comp shortly - send a PM to the regular poster.
5) If I was the regular poster in the past - post it.
I find it a little bit annoying when:
a) A website puts up 5 new comps and someone posts just one or two of them.
b) A website puts up 2 new comps, and a non-regular poster posts these and the other 8 comps from the website's comp page - which are dupes.
c) A non-regular poster misses out valuable information that the regular poster always includes (eg. beware of the tickbox at the bottom of the page). The regular may also have a better idea of which end date to use when the promoter doesn't give one.
d) A regular poster stops monitoring a website as someone else is posting the comps, but the new poster does not take on the job fully meaning comps are missed.
Subject to these four annoyances, then I do not mind at all if someone posts those comps where I am the regular poster.0 -
i think its just a case of if noones spent many on mags to particular comps then post away
althoughi know certain people do whats left of the itv comps-not theres many leftWhat goes around-comes around0 -

I must admit, I just leave the regular posters of certain blogs/sites comps to post them up as I do worry about being told off if I did! Silly I know, but I am a sensitive soul!
I usually post the weekly Healthy Supplies comp and the Pushchair Expert and Mumii comps (simply because the person who used to post the Pushchair Expert and Mumii could no longer post them due to family commitments - and I volunteered to take over). BUT I wouldn't feel offended if anyone else posted them up.
I also post the odd site/blog/FB comps if I come across any and I also try to help out with updating daily comps too.:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea0
