I'm going to campaign for the "irresponsible gambling" rules to be changed. The first on my list of irresponsible corporations are the online casinos, they do not give two hoots about the "player". second on my list are the credit card companies that give an disproportionate amount of lending irrespective of income.

It's a hard road for anyone caught up with gambling, there is no winner - I thought I had won a small fortune, but they had me by the knackers.

Gamcare are an organisation that will provide counselling, and good counselling too. there is nothing to be embarrassed about being an addictive gambler now, it is thrown at you - obviously it is the individuals responsibility at the end of the day, but with what is thrown at us, credit and financial "opportunities" these days, we fall into the trap of wanting what they can offer. It's all bull at the end of the day.
we can all try and reason why we did certain things n our lives, but when you think about it, you don't have that much control over it - now we should try and take back that control and let them that profit from our weaknesses be warned.

Much of my current debt is due to my ex partners online gambling habit.....on MY debit card. It's not the reason we split..I coulda coped with that if he'd taken the line that you have...............it was one thing out of many many things that he did. I agree about the online gambling......it must be ruining so many lives.

I have been lucky, I have a wife that married me for better or worse, I won a lot and she didn't care, I lost it all, she didn't care - she wanted me out of it - So I did it, not purely for her, but for myself. I couldn't walk away from her and my child, no matter how crap I felt at that time, I beat myself up about it and knew I had a problem to face up to. If it was just bookmakers making a living out of gambling, I would never have been in this situation, it's the online casinos that just take card after card without any checks and have no morals about how much they take, but have morals when they have to pay back.

Hi, Around 15k of my debt is due to online gambling and I totally agree that if you are stuck in the gambling trap stop chasing your losses and get help.

I have spoke to Gamcare in the past and now attend Gamblers Anon meetings once a week what help me get through. People sometimes dont think gambling is a big issue but like Alcohol and substance abuse it can be misued. I love Poker with a passion and like Hooters I won a lot but it was enver enough so eventually it would all be gone again. I now know im a compulsive gambler so cannot bet in any way, shape, or form as eventually I will be drawn back into it big time.

People shouldnt just think that gambling is about money as it isnt. The problem is what it does to your mind as you constantly think about it or where you will get the money for your nexr bet and the loss of time is incredible. When you start getting emotionally attached to gambling so that you you geta more of a buzz from it than you do with friends and even your partner then you have a problem.

Hooters im totally with you with regards to getting the laws changed although Im not anti-gambling as I know people who can just bet £10 a and walk away. I wish you the best of luck and if I can help in some way then let me know.
