Hi a little advice please, we started a DMP in 2008 after checking out credit file Barclaycard have only defaulted the debt in Sept 2013. Can we get this moved back either to 2008 or just a couple of years? Do we write and ask Barclaycard to do this? Thanks guys x

HI Wen, I too have had issues with BC - I defaulted onto a CCCS (now Stepchange) DMP in June 2007 but they did not default the account until January 2011! If you get through to their complaints department make sure you get not only the persons name but also the complaint reference number. Once they've received an official complaint (I did mine by phone) they have a target of 2 business days in which they should reply.
Also the person who answers the phone may insist that they know the rules/law but keep mentioning there are statutes in place that mean a creditor should not artificially and inaccurately report a default date or artificially extend the point in time at which the default was reported in order to be detrimental to the debtor.

Have just called Barclaycard to ask how mush was outstanding on the account so we could write and complain about the default and once we got talking to the guy he said he would have look at it there and then! He put us on hold and then came back and said they would take the default off of all the credit agencies as it should have gone into default back in 2008. We asked for it in writing which he said was no problem and would we also like it emailed over. So a very good result, thank you for all your help. Maybe a silly question but once this default is off will it make a big difference to the credit files as this was the only problem flagging up?DMP Support Thread Number 1860

No worries - great result, just keep on top of it and check that they do actually follow through with what they've said.
I presume if this is the only marker on your CRA record then if it's gone it should by definition make things look much better.0
