Breakfast Bars

Hi
I want to make up some healthy breakfast bars for work days using oats as the base but nearly every recipe I've read also uses peanut butter or golden syrup.
Does anyone have a base recipe they use without either of these two being added?
I'll be adding different fruits, nuts, seeds etc once I get a good base recipe.
I have looked on the recipe threads but couldn't see any, by all means point me in the right direction if I missed them
Thanks

Nigella's breakfast bars don't use either of those ingredients, but they do use condensed milk, so might not be what you consider healthy either. They are however, easy to make and very tasty. I also vary /substitute the ingredients to those which I have in the store cupboard or fancy eating at the time.

Hello,
Funnily enough I have been looking at cereal bar recipes lately and found this recipe yesterday from a blog called the Cookin' Canuck
http://www.cookincanuck.com/2012/01/low-fat-granola-bars-with-bananas-cranberries-pecans-recipe/
They use bananas and apple sauce to bind together. I made some yesterday, but used almonds and chopped apricots in place of the pecans and cranberries. I didn't have any apple sauce so used maple syrup. Next time I do make them I will use the apple sauce as well.
They have turned out quite well and the family seem to like them.SPC 11 #4450 -

Yum, these sound nice, they're on the short list to try tomorrow, will have to reduce the quantities though as its a trial bake0 -
I have a brilliant recipe for flapjack which has no added sugar. It was a Nadia Sawalha recipe in the daily mirror, but I have changed it to suit my taste.
150g butter melted (or stork)
225g oats (I'm using Sainsbury's TTD at the mo, bought on special offer, they are very good)
30g chopped almonds.
1 whole apple + skin grated into the mix
150g any dried fruit (currants, raisins etc)
Mix, press and flatten into a square tin, bake for about 20-30 mins 190 c , cut and eat !Still virtually alcohol free since 4/1/15. (10 Xmas/ New Year/Birthday drinks)
It takes 3500 calories to lose a pound in weight. Target 13 lbs weight loss. 18.5lbs lost 2nd May - 28 September.0 -
