Post Office Savings Account

If you have any cash at all in a Post Office Savings Account, withdraw it immediately and put it safely in a Bank - you have been warned! On Friday 8th May 2015 my account was suspended without any notification, contact or warning. The reason given was no transactions for 3 years, this is despite me logging in to my account EVERY MONTH to check the status. It is now Friday 15th May 2015 and my account has not yet been reactivated due to a both incompetence and misinformation on the part of the P.O. I have no idea if and when my account will be reactivated. It is clear from my experience that Post Office Savings Accounts are not fit for purpose and you really should not trust them at all with your money. Do so at your own risk!!

Whilst I agree with you that getting your money out of a Post Office account is invariably massively more complicated than anyone could expect it to be, there is no reason to panic. They are FSCS protected up to £85K, and you can usually get your account unlocked and the money back into your linked account within a week.
It sounds you are the victim of some incompetent CS folk, and you should be raising a formal complaint.

I had a 'Post Office' savings account way back when, but not had one whilst they've been run by Bank of Ireland. After seeing numerous posts on here about how hard it is to get money withdrawn from the accounts, I can safely say I won't ever be opening one again.0

Thanks for heads-up guys & gals. I seem to have been out of the loop on this one.
