Hi guys. Was a time served Joiner for 7 years before I joined Army 6 years ago. Partly because of reccession and partly because I wanted to serve my country. Any road I am.thinking about coming out. Although there is Joinery work out there it scares me that there are no real long term positions available. I am just clancing at indeed etc so I know if I dig further I should find work. I do want to go into college and become a lecturer and have started gaining quals for that. But, as some of you may know leaving the Army is wlquite scary as I am leaving my job and home security so that's why I want to get everything I can sorted to give be best chance of employment. I have alteady accepted I will go back on the tools(and why not I loved being a Joiner, not so much in the winter mind) but was wondering what it took to get into site management? A friend mentioned SMSTS to start with, I have sourced this course at around the £550 mark. Now obviously I know I can't become a manager over night and will have to start as a trainee etc but what other courses would look the part on a CV when applying for said job? Any help will be much appreciated. Happy Fridays!
