Do I need to change my mortgage if I move abroad?

Hi
I'm moving abroad for work. Do I need to change my mortgage to a buy to let mortgage if I plan on renting it out? I am not buying a new property or living in another in the UK so this will remain my primary residence for when I return.
Any advice welcome! Thank you!

Officially you should ask your lender for consent to let. No guarantee they will say yes, but working abroad for a temporary period with the intention to return is often an acceptable reason.
