UPDATED - heart problem and over weight

In simple terms, your body is like a car. The outer shell can weather the elements. The inside of the car should not remain exposed for too long.
You are working your outer shell but have you given any thought to your inner workings?
You are not addressing the problem with whatever it is youre doing. The problem is your heart.
Slow down your strenuous physical activities and introduce slow movements in your life.
I would advise to sit quietly somewhere, turn everything off, phones etc, then breathe through the nose and out of the mouth. Meanwhile, try to listen to your heart.
30 mins for two weeks then increase in 15 minutes intervals per week
This is an incredibly powerful internal exercise.
I don't think you'll have the patience to do this and probably think its pathetic or useless.
I love this thank you, though not the last sentence, not sure why I wouldn't love this? I also do a breathing I was taught in Pilates where you breathe in for 4 seconds, hold and out for 8, whilst picturing the word slow. This is great and I do it daily and even my daughter who is in the middle of A Levels had found it helpful.
I do relaxation a couple of times a week, and just small sections daily, but will definitely try your suggestion. Anything that calls the mind and body I love. Including things like facials, massage etc.
I agree the problem is my heart, but I'm only going by what the hospital told me, to go back to what I was doing before I cut everything out. it was my choice to stop my activities as I just felt scared at the gym, silly I know now.
I love doing classes, the buzz and the social aspect too, but equally love relaxing, hubby would say I do more of that than anything else.....
Edited to mention the pathetic and useless part, just incase anyone is reading this and thinks that - please try it first. A weekly Pilates class taught me so much about my body, how it works and moves together with breathing techniques. You can you-tube lots of things now a days and the benefits are amazing. I've never been one of these who gets stressed, worried etc, I just take it as it comes and am quite laid back, horizontal my friends say.... But even I love the feeling of totally letting go in a breathing session. I have to be careful as I am a really deep breather anyway, added with my low blood pressure if I relax really well I can get light headed, but that's what I work on. To people thinking it is a waste of time - just try it.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -
I think your doctor is talking s**t personally. I'm your height and slightly heavier. I've been the weight you are and it's underweight and unflattering on me (been told this by several friends as well). I also do sport and carry muscle.
It could be that it's worth looking at your diet a bit to make sure you're eating as healthily as you can, though I would have thought that paleo would be a pretty good diet. But I would be back at the doc post-haste to ask for proper help. This is a brush off and I would not accept it. This is partly based on a friend who was fobbed off and fobbed off and told to lose weight etc etc, fair enough she had a bit to lose but it turned out the problem was a congenital hole in the heart. If your own doc won't take you seriously find a different one. You are keeping up your part of the bargain, you're exercising, eating well and looking after yourself and this has still happened.
In your shoes I'd be mad, not reasonable!0 -
I think, to be honest, these BMI readings are often used as an excuse to obstruct the patient from accessing an over-subscribed service, like a hospital waiting list for an operation. Cynical of me, perhaps, but it happens quite often.0

I thought I would update (as I like updates to some threads) for those who commented.
I called the hospital up this morning to ask if I am discharged and want to be seen again (as my BMI is now under 25 do I have to go through a doctors referal. The person I spoke to went away and came back and asked me to call in after 11 today.
I went at 11 and after a strange conversation with someone who thought I was there to complain (no idea why they thought this) they said I could see a doctor. The doctor put me on an ECG which showed 'abnormalities', he took a full history of everything in the last 10 years and all my episodes, decided on an ECG tape for 72 hours, and gave me loads of information and helpful advice on how to carry on until all results were back in. When I finally came out from seeing him I reaslised I'd been in 1 hour 20 minutes!
I certainly didn't think I was seeing a doctor today and had outstanding service from start to finish.
Incidentally whilst I was in the hospital, the hospital phoned me to make an appointment for an xray following my appoitment on Thursday. I said I wasn't aware of an xray and that the doctor i saw discharged me, I said I was actually in the hospital now if they wanted me to pop along and make the appointment at the desk but she said no. So I'm going for an xray on Wednesday - I don't know what of - and knew nothing of it..Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -
I seem to be coming into contact with more and more individuals with heart troubles
