My revelation

Hello everyone,

Having read through what must be hundreds of posts over the past week on this board (alongside the MFW board) I finally thought I'd register and declare war against my debt!

Up until last month I was ignorant towards my finances and as a result was falling behind with numerous payments. I do not have an extremely well-paid job but I do now have a job that will allow me to live more comfortably. However having read the various posts from some veterans of the forum who have been in the same position as me I thought I have had enough and will follow in your footsteps!

Credit card - £1,100
Overdraft facility - £2,000 (near maxed)
Creation finance (xbox one) - Paid off in full
Creation finance (laptop) - Paid off in full
Car - £10,000

All rough estimates, but I welcome the journey!

I've changed all my DD dates to after my new pay date (within a couple of days of payday) so that a couple of days after payday I've got what I have to live off of for my daughter and I.

Going to really sit down tonight too and work out a budget based on what I'm spending just now and analyse exactly what I NEED rather than want each month.

Also, going by the daily DFW rituals many of you follow I'm gonna join a few survey sites too to try and make some extra cash where I can!

Not had a real look at the challenges just now but I'm sure I'll join in anyway!

    Thanks :D

Completing a statement of affairs is the best place to start; it can help show you were you are over/under spending

If you post it here (use the MSE format from the website) then forumites can help you muscle through.

    Good luck!

    Hi J,

you might find that YNAB will help you use your remaining budget to its fullest. Its a budgeting software program that i and many others on here are huge fans of. You can try it free for a month and it has revolutionised how i handle money. In the 3 months or so i have been using it i have not added £1 to my debt, i have not gone overdrawn and i know exactly how much i have in the bank and exactly how much i have to spend on food, house etc etc.

There are plenty of other options out there, some free, so find one that works for you.
    £1000 Emergency fund No90 £1000/1000
    LBM 28/1/15 total debt - [STRIKE]£23,410[/STRIKE] 24/3/16 total debt - £7,298
