Any views on Tiny Houses?

Hi,
I was wondering if any members had views on Tiny Houses? as it seems to be a possible solution for some people such as myself.

Thanks

Love them, best of luck figuring out some way to live in one in the legislation-choked UK ;)

    Nah.
    Don't like them.
    Feel suffocated.
  • I would love one but oh won't get rid of his stuff. They are a brilliant idea.

It's a sweeping generalisation that doesn't mean much.

In the US it seems to be "A UK sized house" .... while others are really "a shed" or "a caravan that looks different".

Many of these "tiny houses" are larger than my 2-bed house! Most are larger than most/many 1-bed mobile homes.

So, you're back to square one. You can't build one any differently to any other 1-2 bed house ....and you can't randomly live in a caravan (no matter what name you give it).

    What're you actually posting about?

Tiny houses is a phrase coined by the middle classes to mean "oooh look at me, I've got far too much money/land/choices and want to do something with my spare time, but if it all goes t1ts up and I can't do anything useful/meaningful with it then it doesn't matter as I've really got a big house anyway and lots of land and money"

Love the Tiny House show based in America and loved that they can make them transportable and they look much prettier than caravans and more like a home! I think they are a great idea and can make living self sufficiently much easier if you have the space on your own plot! Not sure how it would work in the UK but if it was a Tiny House that you can move that might make a difference!
