Hi
Looking for some help, my husband was made redundant and has just signed on for JSA he asked about grants for training courses and was told he had to do a business plan to apply for training courses to be considered. I am not sure what they are looking for and layout etc has anyone any ideas.
thanks

I don;t think they offer grants for training courses.
They do offer the New Enterprise Allowance which gives people help (in the form of talks with a business adviser and possibly a loan as well) for setting up a new business. maybe that is what the jobcentre was talking about?0 -
No training offered I'm afraid, never mind grants as mattcanary says. If your husband is going down the NEA route, just hope your he gets a mentor who knows what he or she is talking about. I nearly went on the NEA with my business idea. Not impressed with the mentor I was allocated. When we were discussing the software needed to complete my idea, he had no idea whatsoever.0

I imagine if someone were truly a good business person, they'd be busy making money rather than spending time mentoring people.
Sounds a bit like the old saying "Those who can't".0 -
After 5 months or so, they might have 'schemes' with free courses (selected subjects).breathe in, breathe out- You're alive! Everything else is a bonus, right? RIGHT??0

He will be eligble to apply for rapid responce training.
He doesnt need a set lay out as his adviser will fill in the form which is a JCP form called an LVP1 ( ithink of the top of my head).
Basically he needs to state what training he is applying for and what his job prospects will be after it, provide some example jobs available in your area to prove likelyhood of employment after the course.
Obtain some sample quotes locally and basically take everything along to his adviser.
RR has a 13 week window and training most likely to be approved in short courses whereby the jobseekers skills and employment prospects are greatly increased. dont apply for courses that take months to complete they are likely to be refused.
Hope this helps. But be quick now a new government is in this option may not be around for ever.0
