£5 to post a card

It has just cost me £5 to post a birthday card to France  Not a huge big card, just the normal birthday card! The stamp was 48p, so in my change I got a 2p, 50p and 2x £2coins. So, abiding by all the various challenges, all this change went into the various 'pots' and I have no 'change' from my £5 note.

Moral of the storey - only pay for stamps with £1 coins - these are the only ones that are not being used on challenges........yet!........oooops, I think I may have started something here
C Card £5218.68 (Feb 2011)
£2 coins (No 085) - £190
Mort overpayments 2011 - £418.06

I was only thinking the same thing to myself at lunchtime...

I did a mystery shop and was handed almost 50 pence worth of 2 and 1p coins in my change  (wouldn't mind the woman didn't even apologise so that's going down in my report!). I got back to work and one of my colleaques offered to change it up in the petty cash but then I thought of my whiskey bottle challenge and thought no better not!!

:rotfl: Oh dear! but at least your challenges have benefited! I had £8 in my purse the other day. Bought three things - now I'm left with £1 all because of the challenges! :rotfl:

I know what you mean... its both good (you are saving it :p ) and bad (no money left  )! I seem to get £2s in change towards the end of the week/month/just when it makes it harder to live for a few days or like today when I was bad and bought ANOTHER packet of jellytots - total cost £2.50 (£2 coin, 43p of the jellytots and 7p 1p/2p/5pchange)

I don't save my 10ps, 20ps, 50ps or £1 as I would never have any money :rotfl: . I was going to join the 20p and under change jar challenge but I found that after 2 days I had about £1.50 left from a £10 :rotfl: so I didn't think I could stick to it!!

Funny thing is, I need some bin bags - daren't go to the shop! :rotfl:

The £1 coins are the only ones I don't save now - the kids daren't drop any money around the house - its picked up and put in the pots so quickly, they don't have time to object :rotfl:

Ever since I've had my own money I've saved 1ps,2ps and 5ps - it's my holiday money.

Converted OH to it soon after we started going out and the following year the change paid for all our days and meals out etc on our holiday :j

We now have a pot for 1ps,2ps and 5ps and another for 10ps and 20ps as OH doesn't like having lots of coins in his pocket - however I don't put much in that pot unless my purse is really full.

I'm like PAP couldn't do all the saving coins challenges as always have no cash as it would always have to go in different pots ;)

yorkie i save my 2ps, 1ps and 5ps too :D but i collect them in a money bag in my bag untill the friday of my weekly challenge, then i pop them all in my pots and confess it on the thread. Because my pots are all sealed i cant get at them and as the money is still in my bag if i get desperate i can still have acess to 'some' cash :rotfl:

That's a good idea - haven't done the weekly challenge yet but I indeed to start in September once I've done my spending diary for a month and have a better idea of where my money goes atm

I'm beginning to see that already - we were getting an horrendous amount of cash out of machines - and sometimes I'd get some out one day, but OH wouldn't tell me he was short and so he'd go the next day and get some too and then that could easily be £50 out and once you've got it it's so easy to spend...
