6 years since going bankrupt

Hi All

Forgive me if I have asked this question before, but I have a issue.
When I have done a credit search in order to clean up my file there is one default left on my file.
The date of the default was the 7th May 2009, I declared myself bankrupt on the 9th May.

Why hasn't this come off yet, or will it come off in the next few weeks?

Can anyone help?

Which agency are you checking your report with? If it's Experian or Equifax it 'should' come off overnight exactly 6 years after the default date.

If it's Noddle they only seem to update their information once a month so when you click on the 'My credit report' link it should tell you when the next update is.

Best thing is to drop the relevant CRA an E-mail or letter pointing out that it should be removed as the default date is greater than 6 years ago.

Yeah, it 'should' be that with Noddle then as I had the same thing.

My default came off of all my other CRA's on the day specified but my next Noddle report wasn't due until 11 days later which is when it disappeared off of that report.

Would it make a difference if the default in question will be 6 years old on the 27th May 2015. Even though my bankruptcy ended on the 9th May 2015.

The important date is the date you were actually declared Bankrupt.

The date your BR was discharged or the date the creditors have listed as the default date is of no relevance.

If you were declared bankrupt on the 9th May 2009 then all your creditors should have a default date no later than the 9th May 2009(they can default you earlier than the BR occurred but not later).

So, all the entries should drop off your credit reports exactly 6 years after you were officially declared BR.

If for some reason some creditors have a date later than your BR date then you need to write to the 'Data Controller' for that creditor and request they update the incorrect default date. I'd also write to the CRA's as well informing them of the same thing.

There's a thread here on how to ensure your credit file is correctly updated after BR with some template letters

That said I was in a similar situation to you where one of my creditors had my default date 3 weeks later than my BR and by the time I contacted the CRA's and the creditor it had already dropped off my report anyway
