Hi, just looking for some advise, I decided I wanted to be a driving instructor so after some research I went with Bill Plant driving school ( ovbs not enough) . Paid the deposit ect to get started and my DBS came back clear. I had told 2 people from the company that I had spoken to that I had 6 points, they both said it wouldn't be a problem and asked me to sign the terms and conditions and send them back to get started. Which I would have never have signed if I knew I wouldn't be allowed on the register due to points. So after calling Bill Plant company to ask for my money back - surprise surprise they said NO! It was them who said my points wernt an issue now I've lost money and they have not done anything other than send me out the DVD and books! 😡 any driving instructors got any suggestions?
Would not recommend This driving school to any one, the more I've looked into it now the more bad reviews ive found.
Cheers

So what do the terms and conditions say about refunds if you are declined? All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
I would loose money if I was to drop out or if my DBS wasn't clear to be a driving instructor ( ovbs having 17yrs old in car ect) they only way is if I had a medical condition. Nothing was mentioned about anything else. I would have never of signed up otherwise. Only they said the point wouldn't be an issue. 😡0

Just had a quick look at their web site and it clearly saysIn order to train you must:
• Have had a full UK license for at least 4 years
• Have no more than 5 points on your license
• Not been banned from driving within the last 4 years
• Be a ‘fit and proper’ person (in the opinion of DSA)
• You must pass a DBS (Enhanced Level Disclosure and Barring Service) check - Formally known as a CRB Check.

Can't see anything about refund policy.
Did come across this forum which might be helpful http://www.driving-instructor.tv/forum/0 -
Exactly they knew I had 6 points and said it wasn't an issue. I checked with them as I knew it said 5 with them but 6 with other company's. Thanks for the link I've posted on there also.0

Do you know anything in writing stating that 6 points wouldn't be an issue? Do you know the names of people you have spoken to?ally.0

You have the option to continue to argue with them that they should accept you ... and probably get nowhere
OR (especially since you now have formed an adverse opinion of the school)
Accept that with 6 points, they are probably not going to accept you, as per their terms & conditions.
In such circumstances, I would expect the school to refund you any money paid (less the cost of any expense they could justify they have reasonably incurred to date e.g. cost of DBS check, etc)
Edit: What do the terms & conditions you actually signed say? They almost certainly over-ride what someone said to you previously.0 -
Well done Bill Plant - making sure people with loads of points on their licence dont get to inflict their bad habits on the new road mob.0

Can you PROVE that you were told six points would be OK?
I think you are stuffed because you signed the Ts & Cs which say that no more than five points would be accepted. Why did you sign it when you couldn't meet the conditions?
In the absence of proof to the contrary, you entered into an agreement based on 'no more than five points'.
A hard lesson I'm afraid.:hello:0
