And yes she had moved it from a place that offered a final salary pension, and no they wouldn't take it back.
Potentially a very expensive mistake. Did she take the advice of an IFA qualified and authorised in pension transfers?0 -
Who was the IFA who helped moved the funds? WEre they in the UK?Potentially a very expensive mistake. Did she take the advice of an IFA qualified and authorised in pension transfers?
No they were based in Cyprus, they were registered with the FCA (if that's the correct term) but when I spoke to the FCA their licence didnt list anything they were allowed the advise on, they are also part of the FCA in Cyprus as well so maybe able to pursue that, but tbh its just a mistake learnt, just going to move on.0 -
I am currently in dispute with Amass or rather the Cypriot Financial Ombudsman - the company is no longer registered in this country and I would not wish what I am currently going through on anyone.
If you can get out of the deal before anything else happens. DO!
Good luck0 -

I too am in dispute with Avalon and Amass, have recruited a solicitor to help us and getting no reply from Amass, would be interested in hearing if you have got any where or had any contact with them? The Cypriot Financial Ombudsman couldn't help. We are probably experiencing similar circumstances. would appreciate any help?0 -
Have I got this right - Amass advised you to transfer your pension (despite not being authorised to offer pension advice in the UK), and your pension was transferred into a SIPP with Avalon SIPP Trustees Limited?
What is the Avalon SIPP invested in?
The ongoing legal case against Berkeley Burke, seeking to hold another SIPP provider liable for not carrying out their legal duty as trustees by allowing their SIPPs to be invested in toxic unregulated crap, may be of relevance. I imagine your solicitor is already keeping a close eye on it.0
